HIU Servicing
A heat interface unit is the box in a flat that takes heat off a communal network and turns it into heating and hot water for that home. When one drifts out of adjustment the resident gets lukewarm water, and the landlord gets a network return temperature that costs money on every flat. What An HIU Service Covers
• Plate heat exchanger inspection and flush where needed
• Strainer and filter clean
• Actuator, control valve and differential pressure valve check
• Domestic hot water temperature and time to temperature measured
• Return temperature checked against the network design figure
• Heat meter reading, function and communication check
• Written report per flat, so the whole block can be tracked
Why Return Temperature Matters
Communal heat networks are billed on what the whole building draws. A handful of badly adjusted HIUs will lift the return temperature across the network, and every flat pays for it. Servicing the units on a planned cycle rather than waiting for complaints is normally the cheapest efficiency work available on a block.
